ALBERTA CONDUCTED TWO NEW DRAWS UNDER THE AAIP
On May 21, 2025, Alberta published an update on the status of its immigration activities under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), including the results of two recent selection rounds. The province confirmed that it currently has 3,068 applications in processing and 2,798 nomination spaces remaining for the rest of 2025. Demand remains high, with 58,204 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) submitted across all AAIP streams and pathways.
In the latest rounds:
On May 13, 2025, Alberta conducted an invitation round under the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS), issuing 125 invitations to eligible candidates. The minimum required score for this round was 76 points, reflecting a competitive but accessible threshold for applicants with strong ties to Alberta’s labour market.
On May 15, 2025, a targeted draw was held for candidates in the Tourism and Hospitality Stream, a sector experiencing high demand for workers across Alberta’s cities and rural areas. 33 invitations were issued to candidates who scored 72 points or higher, reinforcing the province’s commitment to supporting key industries facing labour shortages.
With these two rounds combined, Alberta has now invited 1,283 candidates through AAIP streams in 2025. These invitations demonstrate Alberta’s continued use of targeted draws to align provincial immigration with economic and sector-specific needs.
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program remains a vital tool in attracting skilled workers to support the province’s economic recovery and growth—particularly in hospitality, agriculture, construction, and healthcare.
