GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: September 2026

Global Opportunities Immigration Services (“Global Opportunities,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of our clients, prospective clients, website visitors, seminar participants, assessment participants, and other individuals who interact with us.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, protect, retain, and otherwise handle personal information in connection with our website, preliminary immigration assessments, consultations, immigration services, seminars, communications, payments, and other activities.

Global Opportunities is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Website: www.globalopp.ca
Privacy inquiries: info@globalopp.ca

1. Our Privacy Commitment

Global Opportunities recognizes that immigration-related matters may involve confidential and sensitive personal information.

We seek to handle personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy requirements, including the principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”), where applicable, as well as applicable professional and regulatory obligations.

We seek to:

  • collect only information reasonably necessary for identified purposes;

  • explain why information is being collected;

  • obtain consent where required;

  • limit the use and disclosure of personal information;

  • protect information using safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity;

  • retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary or required;

  • provide appropriate mechanisms for privacy inquiries, access requests, corrections, and complaints.

2. Information We May Collect

The information collected depends on your interaction with Global Opportunities.

We may collect information such as:

  • name;

  • email address;

  • telephone number;

  • country of residence;

  • nationality or citizenship, where relevant;

  • age or date of birth;

  • marital and family status;

  • educational history and credentials;

  • employment history and professional experience;

  • curriculum vitae or résumé;

  • English and/or French language ability;

  • language examination results;

  • immigration history;

  • information concerning a spouse or common-law partner;

  • information concerning dependent family members;

  • immigration objectives;

  • financial information relevant to an immigration assessment or program;

  • correspondence with Global Opportunities;

  • documents voluntarily provided to us;

  • information submitted through assessments, registrations, questionnaires, consultations, or other forms.

Depending on the nature of a retained immigration service, additional information may be required and will be addressed through the applicable agreement and consent process.

3. Information You Should Not Send Unless Requested

For your protection, we encourage you not to send highly sensitive documents or information unless they are reasonably necessary and have been requested for the service being provided.

For an initial inquiry or preliminary assessment, you generally should not send passwords, banking credentials, credit card numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, or other information that is not reasonably necessary for the assessment.

Where identity documents, immigration documents, financial records, or other sensitive records become necessary, Global Opportunities may provide instructions regarding how they should be submitted.

4. Information Collected Automatically

When you use our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:

  • IP address;

  • browser type;

  • device type;

  • operating system;

  • approximate geographic information derived from an IP address;

  • referring pages;

  • pages viewed;

  • date and time of access;

  • website interactions;

  • cookie identifiers and similar technical information.

This information may be used to operate, secure, analyze, and improve our website and communications.

5. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to inquiries;

  • provide preliminary immigration assessments;

  • prepare for and conduct consultations;

  • assess potential immigration pathways;

  • provide services requested by clients;

  • communicate regarding assessments, consultations, or services;

  • schedule appointments;

  • administer seminars and educational events;

  • prepare agreements, invoices, receipts, and records;

  • process and confirm payments;

  • maintain appropriate business and professional records;

  • manage our client and prospective-client relationships;

  • provide requested information;

  • improve our services and website;

  • maintain information security;

  • prevent, detect, investigate, or respond to suspected fraud, misuse, cyberattacks, security incidents, or unlawful activities;

  • comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, professional, insurance, and record-keeping requirements;

  • send newsletters, invitations, educational information, or marketing communications where permitted.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without appropriate authorization unless permitted or required by law.

6. Preliminary Immigration Assessments

Information submitted through a preliminary assessment is used to conduct an initial review of the individual's circumstances.

Factors reviewed may include education, professional experience, age, language ability, family composition, immigration history, and immigration objectives.

A preliminary assessment:

  • is informational and preliminary;

  • does not itself establish representation before IRCC or another authority;

  • does not constitute the filing of an immigration application;

  • does not guarantee eligibility;

  • does not guarantee an invitation, nomination, visa, permit, permanent residence, or other immigration outcome.

A separate agreement may be required for consultations, representation, or other professional services.

7. Consultations and Professional Services

Where an individual purchases a consultation, the applicable Consultation Agreement establishes the professional scope of that consultation.

If a client subsequently chooses to retain Global Opportunities for an immigration matter, a separate Service Agreement may be required.

No immigration application or representation should be understood to have commenced merely because an individual completed an assessment, communicated with Global Opportunities, participated in a seminar, or paid for an initial consultation.

8. Consent

We obtain consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information where required.

Consent may be express or implied depending upon the nature and sensitivity of the information and the circumstances.

By voluntarily submitting information for a specifically identified assessment, consultation, registration, inquiry, or service, you authorize Global Opportunities to use that information for the purposes reasonably connected with your request and as described at the time of collection and in this Privacy Policy.

Consent may be withdrawn subject to reasonable notice and applicable legal, professional, regulatory, contractual, and record-retention requirements.

Withdrawal of consent may prevent us from continuing to provide a requested service.

9. Payments and Financial Information

Payments may be processed through third-party payment processors, including PayPal.

Global Opportunities may receive transaction-related information such as:

  • customer name;

  • email address;

  • amount;

  • currency;

  • payment status;

  • transaction identifier;

  • invoice number;

  • date of payment.

Payment card numbers, banking credentials, or other payment credentials entered directly into a third-party payment provider are processed by that provider and are subject to its own security and privacy practices.

Global Opportunities does not ask clients to provide online banking passwords or payment-platform passwords.

Clients should independently verify that payment requests originate from Global Opportunities before making payment.

10. Fraud, Impersonation and Phishing

Global Opportunities will never ask you to disclose your password for your email account, bank account, PayPal account, or other personal online account.

Fraudulent parties may attempt to impersonate legitimate businesses through email, social media, messaging applications, altered invoices, fake websites, or other means.

Before sending sensitive information or making payment, users are encouraged to verify the communication through an official Global Opportunities contact channel.

If you receive a suspicious communication purporting to come from Global Opportunities, please contact us independently rather than replying to the suspicious communication.

11. User Responsibility for Account and Device Security

Users are responsible for taking reasonable precautions when communicating electronically with Global Opportunities.

This includes:

  • maintaining the security of their own email and device accounts;

  • using strong passwords;

  • enabling multi-factor authentication where available;

  • protecting devices against unauthorized access;

  • avoiding public or unsecured devices when transmitting sensitive information;

  • checking recipients before sending confidential documents;

  • avoiding suspicious links and attachments;

  • notifying Global Opportunities promptly if they believe their email account or device has been compromised.

Global Opportunities cannot control the security of a user's personal device, email account, internet connection, or third-party account.

12. Electronic Communications and Inherent Risks

Email, messaging applications, videoconferencing platforms, cloud services, and internet communications involve inherent security and privacy risks.

Although Global Opportunities takes reasonable measures appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information involved, no method of electronic transmission, computer storage, cloud storage, or internet communication can be guaranteed to be completely secure or immune from unauthorized access, cyberattack, malware, technical failure, interception, or human error.

Accordingly, Global Opportunities cannot guarantee absolute security.

This statement does not reduce or eliminate any responsibility Global Opportunities may have under applicable law to maintain appropriate safeguards.

That last sentence is important. I would not use wording such as “Global Opportunities shall not be responsible for any hacking whatsoever.” Such a clause could create a false impression that the company can contract out of privacy obligations. PIPEDA instead requires safeguards appropriate to sensitivity.

13. Security Safeguards

Global Opportunities takes reasonable administrative, organizational, physical, and technological measures intended to protect personal information against:

  • loss;

  • theft;

  • unauthorized access;

  • unauthorized disclosure;

  • unauthorized copying;

  • unauthorized use;

  • unauthorized alteration or modification;

  • inappropriate disposal.

Depending upon the information and systems involved, safeguards may include access controls, passwords, authentication measures, confidentiality obligations, restricted access based on business need, system updates, security tools, staff awareness and training, secure disposal practices, and other measures considered appropriate.

Safeguards are reviewed and may be modified as technology, operations, and security risks evolve.

The federal Privacy Commissioner specifically recommends physical, organizational and technological safeguards, security policies, regular review of known vulnerabilities and staff training.

Important: only publish specific claims such as “all files are encrypted,” “we use 24/7 monitoring,” or “all accounts use MFA” if those things are actually true. The policy itself should never promise a security control you cannot demonstrate.

14. Access to Personal Information Within Global Opportunities

Access to personal information should be limited to individuals who reasonably require access to perform their duties or provide the requested service.

Personnel, contractors, consultants, or service providers who have legitimate access to personal information are expected to respect confidentiality and applicable privacy and security requirements.

Access does not mean that every employee or contractor has unrestricted access to all client information.

15. Third-Party Service Providers

Global Opportunities may use third-party providers to support business operations, including providers of:

  • website hosting;

  • cloud storage;

  • email;

  • communications;

  • videoconferencing;

  • appointment scheduling;

  • payment processing;

  • accounting;

  • analytics;

  • marketing;

  • customer relationship management;

  • document management;

  • cybersecurity;

  • other technology or professional services.

Personal information may be provided to such service providers only to the extent reasonably necessary for the services they perform.

Third-party providers operate their own systems and may maintain independent privacy and security policies.

Global Opportunities selects and manages service providers with reasonable care but cannot guarantee that a third-party system will never experience a security incident.

Where applicable, Global Opportunities remains responsible for personal information under its control in accordance with applicable law.

16. Processing Outside Canada

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside Ontario or Canada.

When information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of that jurisdiction.

By using our services, personal information may therefore be processed in jurisdictions other than the jurisdiction in which the individual resides, where reasonably necessary for the services involved and subject to applicable privacy requirements.

17. Universities and Institutional Partners

Global Opportunities may collaborate with universities, colleges, professional associations, educational institutions, and other organizations to provide educational seminars, preliminary assessments, or related initiatives.

An institution's distribution of information about Global Opportunities does not, by itself, give that institution access to personal information subsequently submitted directly by an individual to Global Opportunities.

Unless authorized by the individual or otherwise permitted by law, Global Opportunities does not provide participating institutions with:

  • CVs;

  • immigration histories;

  • individual assessment results;

  • immigration documents;

  • consultation information;

  • other confidential personal information submitted by participants.

Global Opportunities may provide aggregate or anonymized participation information where appropriate, provided it does not reasonably identify individual participants.

18. Disclosure of Personal Information

Global Opportunities does not sell personal information.

Personal information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary:

  • with the individual's consent;

  • to provide a requested service;

  • to authorized service providers;

  • to professional advisers where appropriate;

  • to insurers, auditors, or regulatory bodies where appropriate;

  • to government authorities where required or authorized;

  • to comply with legal process;

  • to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights;

  • to prevent or investigate fraud or security incidents;

  • where otherwise permitted or required by law.

19. Cybersecurity and Privacy Incidents

Despite reasonable safeguards, security incidents may occur.

A privacy or cybersecurity incident may include unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, theft, alteration, destruction, ransomware, phishing, account compromise, malware, accidental disclosure, or other compromise involving personal information.

If Global Opportunities becomes aware of an actual or suspected incident, it may take steps such as:

  • investigating the incident;

  • containing the incident;

  • securing affected accounts or systems;

  • changing or revoking credentials;

  • preserving relevant evidence and records;

  • engaging technology, cybersecurity, legal, insurance, or other professionals;

  • evaluating what information and individuals may be affected;

  • taking reasonable steps to reduce potential harm;

  • notifying affected individuals where appropriate or legally required;

  • notifying regulators, law enforcement, service providers, insurers, or other organizations where appropriate or legally required.

Under PIPEDA, an organization must report a breach to the Privacy Commissioner and notify affected individuals when it is reasonable to believe the breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

PIPEDA also requires organizations to maintain a record of every breach of security safeguards involving personal information under their control.

20. Notification Following a Security Incident

Not every security event necessarily creates the same degree of risk.

Where notification is legally required, Global Opportunities will seek to provide affected individuals with sufficient information to understand the significance of the incident and, where possible, steps they can take to reduce or mitigate potential harm.

Notification will be provided as required by applicable law.

PIPEDA specifically requires notification to contain sufficient information for affected individuals to understand the significance of the breach and take available mitigating steps.

21. No Guarantee of Absolute Cybersecurity

Global Opportunities uses reasonable safeguards but cannot warrant or guarantee that:

  • its website will always be uninterrupted or error-free;

  • electronic communications will never be intercepted;

  • a third-party provider will never experience a breach;

  • malware or cyberattacks will never occur;

  • information will never be affected by unauthorized criminal activity;

  • every cybersecurity threat can be predicted or prevented.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to exclude, waive, or limit any obligation or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Esta última frase es la que yo pondría como protección jurídica, en vez de intentar decir “no somos responsables”. Reconoce riesgos reales sin intentar eliminar obligaciones legales.

22. Data Breach Records

Where required by applicable law, Global Opportunities will maintain appropriate records of security safeguard breaches and make such records available to the applicable regulatory authority when legally required.

23. Data Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • fulfill the purposes for which it was collected;

  • provide requested services;

  • maintain appropriate professional and business records;

  • comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, insurance, contractual, or professional obligations;

  • establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.

When information is no longer reasonably required, Global Opportunities may securely delete, destroy, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with applicable requirements and internal practices.

24. Access and Correction

Subject to applicable legal exceptions, individuals may request access to personal information held about them and request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

Identity verification may be required before responding to an access or correction request.

Requests can be directed to:

info@globalopp.ca

25. Deletion and Withdrawal of Consent

Individuals may request deletion of certain personal information or withdraw consent for certain uses.

Such requests are subject to applicable legal, professional, regulatory, contractual, evidentiary, accounting, and record-retention obligations.

Consequently, Global Opportunities may not always be legally or professionally permitted to immediately delete all information associated with an individual.

26. Marketing Communications

Where permitted, Global Opportunities may send newsletters, seminar invitations, immigration information, updates, or promotional communications.

Recipients may unsubscribe from marketing communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided or by contacting us.

Withdrawal from marketing communications does not prevent Global Opportunities from sending transactional, administrative, security, consultation, or service-related communications that are reasonably necessary.

27. Cookies, Analytics and Similar Technologies

The Global Opportunities website may use cookies, pixels, analytics technologies, or similar tools for functionality, security, analytics, advertising measurement, and website improvement.

Third-party technologies may collect information according to their own terms and privacy practices.

Users may be able to manage cookies through their browser settings or other controls made available through the website.

28. Social Media and Public Communications

Information posted voluntarily by individuals on public social-media pages, public comments, reviews, or other publicly accessible channels should not be considered confidential.

Clients should not post sensitive immigration or identity information publicly when communicating with Global Opportunities through social media.

For confidential matters, individuals should use the communication channels designated by Global Opportunities.

29. Testimonials, Photographs and Recorded Content

Global Opportunities will not treat participation in an immigration service as automatic authorization to publicly use a client's image, voice, testimonial, immigration story, or personally identifying information for promotional purposes.

Where appropriate, separate consent may be requested before using identifiable testimonials, photographs, video, audio, or client stories for marketing or public communications.

Consent for marketing use does not guarantee that every form of use will occur and may be subject to the terms of the applicable authorization.

30. Children and Dependants

Our independent assessments and consultations are generally intended for adults.

Information regarding children or dependants may nevertheless be necessary when evaluating a parent's or guardian's immigration circumstances.

Where appropriate, information about minors should be provided by or with the involvement or authorization of a parent or legal guardian.

31. Links to Third-Party Websites

Our website may link to third-party websites, including government websites, educational institutions, payment providers, social networks, or other services.

Global Opportunities does not control independent third-party websites and is not responsible for their privacy or security practices.

Users should review the privacy policies of those services before providing personal information.

32. Business Transfers and Organizational Changes

If Global Opportunities undergoes a corporate reorganization, merger, acquisition, financing transaction, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be disclosed or transferred where permitted by law and subject to appropriate confidentiality and privacy safeguards.

Any such handling will remain subject to applicable legal requirements.

33. Legal and Regulatory Requests

Global Opportunities may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, court orders, lawful government requests, regulatory obligations, professional requirements, or legal proceedings.

Where legally permitted and appropriate, Global Opportunities will seek to limit disclosure to information reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose.

34. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in:

  • law or regulation;

  • professional obligations;

  • technology;

  • service providers;

  • business practices;

  • services;

  • security practices.

The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Where appropriate, material changes may be communicated by additional means.
