IRCC UPDATED PROOF OF FUNDS FOR THE ATLANTIC IMMIGRATION PROGRAM
On July 29, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the settlement fund requirements for the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). Under the new thresholds, a single applicant must demonstrate at least $3,815 in available funds, while a family of four must show $7,090. These adjustments reflect the latest low-income cut-off (LICO) figures and may impact eligibility for prospective applicants.
The funds must be easily accessible, consist solely of personal savings, and cannot be borrowed or held in non-liquid assets such as property or vehicles. Applicants are required to provide official bank letters showing current account balances and a detailed history of transactions. For those applying with a spouse or partner, proof can come from either a joint account or individual accounts—provided documentation confirms the applicant’s access to the funds.
Individuals already employed in Canada with a valid work permit are exempt from this requirement. However, IRCC recommends that newcomers bring more than the minimum amount to ensure a smoother settlement process, and all applicants must declare any amount exceeding $10,000 when entering Canada.
