CANADA INVITED 6,000 FRANCOPHONE CANDIDATES UNDER EXPRESS ENTRY

Strengthening Francophone Presence Across Canada

On October 29, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Francophone-targeted Express Entry draw, reinforcing the federal government’s long-term commitment to promoting linguistic diversity and supporting French-speaking communities outside Quebec. This draw is part of Canada’s national strategy to increase Francophone immigration to support demographic growth, cultural vitality, and labor force needs across the country’s provinces and territories.

This initiative also responds to the significant demand for bilingual professionals in the fields of healthcare, education, government services, technology, and community support — sectors where language plays a key role in accessibility and social cohesion.

Details of the Draw

In Express Entry round #376, IRCC issued:

  • 6,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs)

  • To candidates with strong French language proficiency

  • With a CRS cut-off score of 416, which is 16 points lower than the previous Francophone-focused draw

  • Tie-breaking rule: September 8, 2025, at 15:27:09 UTC

In total, for 2025:

  • 81,485 ITAs have been issued across all Express Entry rounds

  • 36,000 ITAs (44% of total) were specifically issued to Francophone candidates

This marks one of the largest Francophone draws in the history of Express Entry.

Why This Matters for Francophone Candidates

This draw reinforces several strategic trends:

  • Francophone profiles benefit from lower CRS thresholds, increasing selection chances

  • Canada actively supports bilingual labor force expansion

  • French-speaking newcomers are encouraged to settle in communities where French services are expanding, such as:

    • New Brunswick

    • Ontario (Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor, Sudbury)

    • Manitoba

    • Alberta

    • Nova Scotia

Moreover, Francophone applicants receive additional CRS points, making the pathway to permanent residency smoother and faster.

A Prime Opportunity for French-Speaking Applicants

With large-scale draws and lower score requirements, Francophone applicants are among the top priority immigration groups in 2025.
