EXPRESS ENTRY: CANADA HOLDS FOUR DRAWS IN A WEEK, INCLUDING FIRST-EVER TRANSPORT OCCUPATIONS ROUND
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held four Express Entry draws over four consecutive days this week, spanning Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), French-language proficiency, and — for the first time ever — transport occupations. Together, the four rounds issued 8,807 Invitations to Apply (ITAs).

So far in 2026, IRCC has issued 113,423 invitations across 46 Express Entry draws, including 45,500 through French-language proficiency rounds — approximately 40.2% of all invitations issued this year.
Draw #431: Provincial Nominee Program
On August 4, IRCC invited 507 PNP candidates at a cut-off of 768 points — 24 points higher than the previous PNP-targeted round, and among the highest thresholds seen in a PNP round this year. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to a candidate's CRS score, which is why PNP-specific rounds consistently carry the highest cut-offs of any draw type.
Draw #432: Canadian Experience Class
On August 5, IRCC issued 3,000 ITAs to CEC candidates, with the cut-off holding steady at 516 points — unchanged from the previous CEC round. This was the 13th CEC-specific draw of 2026, bringing the year's CEC total to 48,250 ITAs.
Draw #433: French-Language Proficiency
On August 6, IRCC held its ninth French-language draw of the year, issuing 5,000 ITAs at a cut-off of 391 points — 8 points lower than the previous French-targeted round, and the lowest cut-off this category has seen all year. French-speaking candidates continue to make up a striking share of Express Entry activity in 2026: 45,500 invitations so far, or roughly 40.2% of every ITA issued this year.
Why This Matters: With the French-language cut-off now at its lowest point of 2026, this remains one of the most accessible categories in the entire Express Entry system — and one of the clearest levers a candidate can pull to boost their standing in the pool.
Draw #434: Transport Occupations (First-Ever Round)
On August 7, IRCC conducted the first-ever Express Entry draw for transport occupations, issuing 300 ITAs at a cut-off of 470 points. This new category targets candidates with work experience in transport-sector roles, adding another dedicated pathway alongside the skilled military recruits category introduced earlier this year. As with any first-ever draw, this round establishes a baseline; where the cut-off settles in future rounds will become clearer as IRCC continues to run this category.
