IRCC CONDUCTED NEW IEC DRAWS AND INVITED OVER 7,000 CANDIDATES IN JUNE 2025

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continued its active engagement in the International Experience Canada (IEC) program throughout June 2025, issuing a total of 7,162 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for open work permits between June 1 and June 30. The IEC program allows young nationals from partner countries to work and travel in Canada, supporting cultural exchange and temporary labor market needs.

As of June 27, there were 29,660 candidates in the IEC pool awaiting selection. The monthly breakdown reveals broad international participation, with the highest number of ITAs granted to candidates from the United Kingdom (1,588), Japan (1,242), South Korea (960), France (544), and Australia (871). Other countries with significant numbers include Germany (397), Ireland (321), and Italy (272).

Smaller allocations were made to candidates from countries such as Costa Rica (6), Slovenia (3), and Luxembourg (1), reflecting quota limits and bilateral agreements. In total, Canada has issued 80,489 ITAs under the IEC program so far in 2025.

The IEC program continues to be a vital pathway for youth mobility, offering participants the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience while exploring the country. It also helps employers across Canada fill short-term labor gaps, particularly in sectors like hospitality, tourism, and agriculture.

IRCC is expected to continue issuing ITAs regularly as long as country-specific quotas remain open and candidates meet eligibility criteria.
